What is called Sentence?         

A Sentence is a group of words properly arranged to make a complete sense or meaning.   
Examples- 1. I play cricket everyday.
       2. Have you read the story?                                                                                                       There are four kinds of Sentence: 
       1. Assertive Sentence
       2. Interrogative Sentence
       3. Imperative Sentence
       4. Optative Sentence
       5. Exclamatory Sentence
   
Now we are going to get knowledge about the above Sentences:

                1. ASSERTIVE SENTENCE 
  
A Sentence that makes a statement or assertion is called an Assertive Sentence.

There are two kinds of Assertive Sentence:
         1. Affirmative Sentence
         2. Negative Sentence
Examples:
        1. He is a student.(Affirmative)
        2. He is not a student.(Negative)
        3. They play football.(Affirmative)
        4. They do not play football.                            (Negative)

              2. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE

A Sentence which asks a question is called an Interrogative Sentence.
Examples:
        1. Are you a student?
        2. Do you know his address?
        3. What are you doing?
N.B: Use question mark(?) at the end of the Sentence and at the beginning of the Sentence use 'do' verb or 'be' verb or 'have 'verb or 'modal' verb.

             3. IMPERATIVE SENTENCE 

A Sentence which expresses a command or request or advice or forbid is called an Imperative Sentence. In this Sentence, 'you'(subject) remains hidden.
 Examples: 
                1. Please give me some water.
                2. Shut the door.
                3. Respect your teachers.
                4. Do not go there.

             4. OPTATIVE SENTENCE

A Sentence that expresses wish or prayer is called an Optative Sentence.
Examples:
                 1. May you live long.
                 2. May you be happy.
                 3. May God bless you.

             5. EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE
A Sentence that expresses a sudden feeling ( joy or sorrow or surprise etc) is called  an Exclamatory Sentence.
Examples:
               1. Hurrah! We have won the match.
               2. Alas! He is no more.
               3. How big the tiger is!
